This was a great shoot. We, the models, had a lot of fun trying out dynamic posing styles, and the late winter lighting allowed for a lot of playfulness. We chose to remain barefoot for a more organic feel, touching on the ideas of decay and return to the earth.

For reasons indiscernible to me now, this FBI shirt served as a mainstay of my wardrobe for a solid 6 months, maybe even longer.

The shed featured in the background of some of the photos served briefly the headquarters of “the Friendship Club” — a club whose main tenet was to commit acts of kindness. This marks a concrete moment of moral awakening for me – as this club arose from the direct aftermath of the dissolution of “Bad Girls club,” of which I served as both a fervent leader and participant. In that club members committed unattractive acts of malice such as writing on neighbors’ garages with permanent marker and spraying silly string into the keyholes of mailboxes. I can’t quite recall the fine details of our activities in the Friendship Club, but surely they must have been at least half-way pure.

The shed-headquarters (shedquarters?) was dark and stuffy with the stench of hot plastic. It was also a very popular hang out spot for spiders. The clubhouse quickly gave way to the storage of stacks of plastic chairs and spare luggage, but the sentiment of the club remains in our hearts always.
