visited the whitney museum of modern art and saw a painting by juanita mcneeley from 1969 titled “is it real? yes, it is!” its about her experience having an illegal abortion. the above the board doctors wouldn’t give her a hysterectomy because it was too risky due to her cancer.

it reminded me of this demon abortion thing that i made earlier this year. keenan found and gifted me the fun squiggly purple piece of wood. it’s quite thick and heavy. the fact that mcneeley’s painting was my favorite piece at the museum is clearly very on brand for me. i am so grateful for my own hysterectomy every single day. in other news, the cat just pulled a bookmark out of a book and is violently destroying it. how will i know what page i was on? that’s what i get for agreeing to cohabitate with a ferocious fangtoothed beast with a soft underbelly. gotta go.
